Family Road Healthy Start provides several courses for expecting mothers and fathers to cover basic information so that you will be able to recognize when labor starts, know when to come to the hospital, know what to expect when you arrive at the hospital, and be aware of indications for a cesarean birth.

In this class, experience hands-on demonstrations on how to bathe, feed, diaper, dress and hold a baby, while you practice with a lifelike doll.

Partner Involvement
Family Road provides an array of classes where partners are welcomed and encouraged to attend on a regular basis. This includes parenting classes, prenatal and childbirth education classes, counseling, nutrition, car sear safety and more! It’s better when we are learning together! Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program
The BABY & ME – Tobacco Free Program™ is an evidence based, smoking cessation program created to reduce the burden of tobacco on the pregnant and postpartum population. Pregnant women eligible to enroll into the program through Family Road Healthy Start Prenatal Clinic.
Well-Baby care
Family Road Healthy Start Nurse Practitioner and Case Managers provide educational information, resources, and follow-up regarding well -baby care. Referrals to physicians, FQHC’s, health units are also provided to clients.
Immunizations
Family Road Healthy Start Nurse Practitioner and Case Managers provide one-on-one counseling, guidance, resources on the immunizations needed for you and your family.
Parenting, Child development education and Parenting Support
Family Road provides trained educators and social workers which provide one-on-one and group sessions concerning parenting concerns and issues. Addressing issues from zero on up.
HISET (formally GED)
Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge in collaboration with East Baton Rouge School System -Adult and Continuing Education provides the HISET.
Job Training Resources
Family Road works with Employ BR, Baton Rouge Community College and the Louisiana Dept. of Labor to assist clients with accessing training and educational programs to increase their job skills, knowledge and training in the field of their choice.
